I’m just starting my journey into building an online business, and honestly, most days I still feel like I’m fumbling around trying to figure things out. I’m not trying to sound wise or inspirational—I’m literally learning this stuff in real time. Instead of pretending I have it all together, I thought it might be more honest (and maybe more fun) to learn out loud and invite anyone else who’s starting from scratch to come along too.
Recently I found myself reading about Teachable’s mobile apps, not because I was searching for the “perfect” tool, but because I was tired of putting off learning until I had a long stretch of quiet computer time—which never actually happens. Teachable explained that people learn very differently when lessons fit into the tiny spaces of everyday life, and that caught my attention. They said mobile learners come back to their course material multiple times a week and finish more of what they start, simply because learning becomes something they can do anytime instead of waiting for the “right moment” that never arrives.
That idea made something click for me. I don’t need a huge plan. I just need to keep going in small, steady ways.
What also helped was knowing that Teachable supports both iOS and Android now. They recently rolled out full Android support—meaning people who don’t use Apple devices (like myself) can still learn on the go, even with offline mode. Their iOS app already offers quick access, synced progress, and offline viewing through a download manager so you can watch lessons without an internet connection. The Android app also syncs your progress automatically, which is great if you swap between your phone and your laptop during the day.
These features may sound small, but together they create something that feels doable, especially for beginners like me who don’t have hours to dedicate to learning each week.
So this is the approach I’m taking: learning in short, imperfect, everyday moments instead of waiting to magically become the kind of person who studies uninterrupted for two hours. I’ll pick a topic I’m curious about, open the Teachable app when I have a few minutes, watch a lesson, and try to apply something small right away. No pressure, no huge goals, just consistent tiny steps.
I’m sharing this because I know there are more people like me—people who want to build something online but feel overwhelmed by where to start. Maybe you’ve bought courses you never finished. Maybe you want to create digital products, or teach something you’re good at, or just understand the online business world better. But every time you sit down to learn, life interrupts.
This way of learning feels more human. More sustainable. And honestly, more forgiving.
If you want to learn alongside someone who’s genuinely at the beginning, I’d love the company. We don’t need to follow the same topic or take the same course. We just need to show up for ourselves in small ways, without turning learning into another impossible task.
Maybe your version is watching one short lesson while drinking your morning coffee. Or reviewing a module while you’re waiting in the car. Or listening to a lesson while you take a walk. Teachable’s mobile updates make all of that possible, and I think that’s why the idea stuck with me—they’re designing learning around real life, not the fantasy version of life we think we’re supposed to have.
So that’s where I’m at: starting small, learning slowly, and trying not to overcomplicate things. If you want to grow your online business skills without drowning in pressure or perfectionism, you’re welcome to join me. No expertise required. No polished plan needed. Just the willingness to inch forward, one little pocket of time at a time.
If you ever want to share what you’re learning—or if you want me to share more of my own small wins and “wow, I did not know that” moments—I’m here for it. Let’s figure this out together.
